For metropolitan regions, climate change may well be the defining issue of the 21st century. But while urban areas are home to the underlying causes of climate change — commerce and people — they also contain many of the most promising solutions to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy.

A lot of work is already being done -- much of it in the Portland region -- but clearly, today's best practices aren't doing enough. With the right coordination and focus, we can foster a prosperous regional clean energy economy that produces new jobs and talent, innovative products and technologies, and significant cost savings from widespread conservation efforts across the transportation, building, and waste management sectors.

That's exactly our vision. We'll work with our multi-sector partners to champion innovative strategies in the areas of carbon finance, distributed energy services, municipal energy efficiency and renewables procurement, and clean tech business innovation.
